The 3D heart

The heart you can turn on Features and 3D anatomy comes from the HuBMAP CCF 3D Reference Object Library (opens in a new tab): Browne, K., Cross, L. E., Herr II, B. W., Record, L., Quardokus, E., Bueckle, A., and Börner, K. (2021). It's shared under CC BY 4.0 (opens in a new tab).

We use the app's simplified version of the HuBMAP male v1.0 heart, with the colors that tell its structures apart. Five vessel ends are hidden so the heart fits the frame, and no anatomy is added.

Anatomy models in the app

The app screenshots on this website show its whole-body atlas and organ models. The atlas combines datasets for learning and isn't one person's anatomy. The full notes explain how the source models were adapted.

Full attribution and adaptation notes for each model

Screenshots and simulation images

Screenshots on this website, including the app screens in Home's slideshow, are captured from the MagstoneRN app.

The hospital room and bedside images are frames from the app's virtual simulation of Mara's heart failure case, drawn by the app's own renderer. The room, equipment, and clothing are original MagstoneRN artwork, and Mara's model was built from CC0 (public domain) MakeHuman assets.

Study guides and the app

Study guides, comparisons, and the drug and lab pages list their own sources on each page. In the app, each flashcard shows its source under the answer, question explanations and simulation debriefs list theirs, and every lesson ends with the sources it was written from.
